You care about safety you’ve got a HomeSecuritySystem.com/adt-home-security-syst alarm, you take your vitamins and you turn off the ironbut what about your kids? If your kids are about to start driving here are a few things you need to have a discussion about:
Seatbelts: if you’ve got kids about to get their licenses they have to know what the ground rules are when it comes to seatbelts. There should be a zero tolerance policy when it comes to seatbelts and they best thing to do is for them to buckle up before they even start the car.
Alcohol: Obviously if your kids are young they need to stay away from alcohol to begin with but do they know what to look for when it comes to getting in the car with a drinking driver? Talk to them about the signs and come up with a plan.
Speed: Your kids have to know that the minute they get their first speeding ticket they’re no longer allowed to drive their car. This should be a non-negotiable and encourage them to drive safely.

Having incorrect tire pressure can negatively affect your vehicle in several ways, which can often result in bad situations.
Under-inflated tires are a major liability for most vehicles, accounting for 33,000 injuries and 660 fatalities each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Under-inflated tires affect the vehicles load and weight carrying capacity and also waste fuel. They have to use more traction to move because the under-inflated tire will not maintain it’s original shape which cause the excess usage of gasoline. Tires will also wear out much quicker when they are under-inflated because they build up more heat than needed due to the over flexing of the tire. Once an under-inflated tire becomes overheated, the tire will push more pressure on the side walls and wear the rubber down much quicker. The rubber will also be pierced by sharp objects easier because it will alter itself to a softer rubber. Under-inflated tires result in overall destruction of the tires quicker than a properly filled tire, and more often result in a blowout.
Overinflated tires also pose a threat to your vehicle because they are not able to grip the road as they should. The contact of the road is reduced by overinflated tires which causes skidding in wet conditions and excessive spinning at high speeds or soft roads. They will also provide a bumpy ride for the vehicle and are also able to be pierced by sharp objects because of their stiffness. Overinflated tires wear out the center of the tires, leading to faster destruction of the tire.

When driving in the rain, it is important to be extremely careful in order to keep you and everyone else you’re sharing the road with safe. Accidents can happen at any given time and it is best to always be on alert to make sure that should an accident happen while you are driving, damages and injury are kept at a minimum. When the roads are wet and slick, it is very easy to make the wrong move and end up in an unfavorable situation. We roads are far more dangerous to drive on than dry roads.

Wet roads are slick and even the best tires have trouble gripping the pavement when there is water in the mix. This means that the slightest turn you make could go wrong if you are not careful. Even braking can be difficult on wet roads for the exact same reason. Your tires are designed with traction for gripping reasons and water acts as a lubricant between your wheels and the pavement, essentially rendering that traction almost useless.

Remember to use extreme caution in the rain at all times. Brake earlier than you normally would and lay off of the accelerator if you drive over a puddle.

Getting into the routine of checking the oil levels of your vehicle is very important to it being a lasting tool of your life. You always want to check the oil level with the motor off and the engine usually cooled down. There are two levels marked off on your dipstick: the upper and lower levels, some are even just marked with a dot or hole in the dipstick itself. You want to first start by removing the dipstick from the engine block, wiping it off and then re-inserting it to get an accurate reading. After re-inserting it, remove it again and take your reading. The methods of how to understand your reading are as follows: if your reading is between the two markings or the upper and lower level, you are in the ideal level for your oil. If your reading is at or below the lower level it is advised to add small amounts of oil until you reach the ideal level. If you are at the upper level this should not become an issue, unless you are above the level, then you need to drain some of the oil from the drain pan until you reach the ideal level.

When sharing the road with other drivers, it is very important to know just exactly what condition your tires are in. Being able to account for the tread on your tires will make all of the difference between safely making it home from work and having a car accident. There are several different methods which can be used to prolong the life of your tires and it is very important to pay close attention to these steps to keep you and your family safe on the road.

The best way to keep your tires from wearing out so fast is to monitor your braking technique. Those who brake the hardest will end up needing to replace their tires more frequently than others. The best way to brake is to do slow slowly but firmly, well in advance of the stop sign or traffic light ahead. Another good tip is to make sure to have your wheels aligned whenever they need it. If you notice that your car is starting to veer to another direction when you take your hand off of the wheel, there is a good chance that your tires are suffering because of it. Getting your car aligned is cheap and it only takes a few minutes.
